No major developments today. Further developing the ascot and refinement. Next and, the last week, will be dedicated to the final design of the clothing and overall drawing.
The surface is Arches 300lb hot press. The key to making darks dark, in carbon drawings is saturation. It's almost a reverse impasto. In oil paint you impasto to make elements more physically present by making them physically subjected to light. With drawing it's the opposite, the more you put on the darker and more subdued it will seem.
Your darks are wonderful in this piece. What surface are you using with the carbon pencil.
